How to Use Bold Text on Instagram
Updated
Instagram doesn’t offer any text formatting — no bold, no italics, no underline. You can still get bold text by using special Unicode characters that look bold. Instagram treats them as normal text, so they show up bold for everyone.
Steps
- Open the bold text generator and type your text.
- Press Copy next to the bold style you like. Bold (sans-serif) matches Instagram’s own font best; Bold (serif) looks more classic.
- Open Instagram, start a caption, comment or bio edit, and paste.
Tips
- Bold a few words, not everything. A bold first line or a bold call to action stands out. A whole caption in bold is tiring to read.
- Keep hashtags and @mentions plain. Instagram only recognises hashtags and mentions written in normal letters —
#𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥is not the same as#travel. - Check the bio length. Styled letters can count as two characters each in some places, so long bold bios may hit the 150-character limit sooner.
Will everyone see it?
Bold letters are supported on practically every phone made in the last decade. Rarer styles may show up as boxes on older devices — see why fancy text shows as boxes.
