All questions

How does this work?

Unicode — the standard every phone and computer uses for text — includes thousands of extra characters: bold and italic letters made for maths, letters in circles and squares, small capitals and more. This site swaps your normal letters for those characters. Because the result is ordinary text, not a font or an image, it keeps its look wherever you paste it.

Why do I see boxes or question marks?

Your device doesn’t have a font that includes those characters, so it shows a placeholder instead. Bold, italic, cursive, small caps and bubble text work almost everywhere. Rarer styles (marked “may show boxes”) can fail on older phones — and on your readers’ phones too, so pick a common style for anything important.

Where can I use the text?

Anywhere you can paste text: Instagram bios and captions, X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube comments, Discord, WhatsApp, game names and more. A few places, such as some username fields and email subject lines, may reject or strip special characters.

Is it accessible?

Not very. Screen readers may read each styled letter by its technical name (“mathematical bold capital H”) or skip it entirely, and search engines and hashtags don’t match styled words. Use styles for decoration and keep important information in plain text.

Do you store what I type?

No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Your last text, copy history and display settings are saved only on your own device so they’re there next time; you can clear them any time.

How do I turn fancy text back to normal?

Paste it into the Unstyle tool. It converts bold, italic, bubble and most other styles back to plain letters and removes underlines and strikethroughs.

How do I make bold text on Instagram or LinkedIn?

Type your text here, press Copy next to the bold style you like, then paste it into Instagram, LinkedIn or any other app. Those apps have no bold button, but they show these Unicode letters just fine.

Will people be able to search for my bold words?

Usually not. To a computer 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝 and bold are different characters, so search and hashtags won’t match. Keep names, hashtags and keywords in plain text.

What makes a font “aesthetic”?

It’s a look rather than one font: soft lowercase or small caps, airy spacing and cute symbols like ✧, ⋆, ♡ and ꒰ ꒱. Here those symbols are added around your text, so you can copy the whole thing at once.

Where can I use aesthetic text?

Anywhere that accepts text: Instagram and TikTok bios, captions, Discord profiles, WhatsApp statuses and messages. Usernames (@handles) usually only allow plain letters, numbers and underscores.

What is zalgo text?

Zalgo is the internet name for text covered in so many accent marks that it seems to glitch. The marks are real Unicode characters made for accents, so the text pastes almost anywhere.

Why does glitch text overlap other lines?

Each mark sits above or below its letter, and the heavy styles stack a lot of them. Some apps cut off the extra height, others let it spill over. The light style is best for names and comments.

Can I turn glitch text back into normal text?

Yes. Paste it into the remove formatting tool: it takes off the marks and gives you back the plain letters.

How is mirror text different from upside-down text?

Mirror text is flipped from left to right, like a reflection. Upside-down text is turned 180°, so it reads correctly when you turn your phone around. Both are on this site.

Why aren’t some letters mirrored?

Unicode only has mirror-image versions of some letters. Letters like A, H, O and X look the same in a mirror anyway; for a few others there’s no good look-alike, so they stay as they are.

How long can my nickname be?

It depends on the game, and most limits are short — often 12 to 16 characters. Decorations count as characters too, so keep the name short or use one symbol on each side.

Why does my nickname show boxes or question marks?

The game or the phone has no font with that symbol. Try a different decoration; ★, ツ and 『 』 work on almost every device.

How do you write a space in Morse code?

Put a space between letters and a slash (/) between words. When Morse is sent as sound or light, letters are separated by a pause as long as three dots and words by a pause as long as seven.

What is SOS in Morse code?

... --- ... — three dots, three dashes, three dots, sent as one signal without the usual gaps between letters. It was chosen because it is easy to send and recognise, not because the letters stand for anything.

Can I paste Morse code written with other symbols?

Yes. The translator reads ., · and • as dots and -, − and _ as dashes, and splits words on a slash, a vertical bar or a long gap.

How are capital letters and numbers written in braille?

The capital sign ⠠ goes before a capital letter, and two of them (⠠⠠) before a word in capitals. Numbers start with the number sign ⠼ and use the letters a–j for 1–0, so 2026 is ⠼⠃⠚⠃⠋.

Does this work for other languages?

Each language has its own braille code. This translator follows English braille, which covers the 26 Latin letters; accents are dropped, so check the braille code of your language for anything official.

What is the blank braille character?

⠀ (U+2800) is a braille cell with no dots. It looks like a space but counts as a character, which is why people use it to keep empty lines in Instagram captions.

Is this how the Vikings wrote?

The Vikings used the Younger Futhark, a shorter alphabet of 16 runes that grew out of the Elder Futhark. The Elder Futhark has 24 runes, close to one for each sound, which makes it the easier choice for modern names.

How do you separate words in runes?

Old inscriptions often put a dot ᛫ or a double dot ᛬ between words. Spaces work too, and the translator reads all three.

Will runes show on every phone?

Runic letters are part of Unicode and show on current iPhones, Android phones, Windows and Mac. Some older devices may show boxes instead.

What do the words on the enchanting table mean?

Nothing in particular: the game picks random words from a list and writes them in the Standard Galactic Alphabet, so they’re decoration, not hints about the enchantment.

Why do some letters look like two characters?

Unicode has no Standard Galactic Alphabet, so a few letters are built from pieces: P is !¡, Y is ||, and T and X use a combining dot. Copy them whole, and paste them back here to read them.

Can I use it in Minecraft chat?

It depends on the edition and its font: some of these characters may show as boxes in the game. They show up in Discord, on social media and in most apps on current phones and computers.

What is “hello” in binary?

01101000 01100101 01101100 01101100 01101111. Each letter is one byte, and a capital letter differs from its lowercase letter by a single bit: H is 01001000 and h is 01101000.

Why do some characters take more than 8 bits?

UTF-8 uses one byte for English letters and digits, two for most accented letters (é is 11000011 10101001), three for most other scripts and four for emoji.

Is this the same as ASCII?

For English letters, digits and basic punctuation, UTF-8 gives exactly the same bytes as ASCII. UTF-8 extends ASCII to cover every language and emoji.

Which invisible character works for blank names in games?

The Hangul filler (U+3164) is the one most games and apps accept, because they treat it as a letter rather than a space. If it’s rejected, try the halfwidth version or the braille blank.

How do I send an empty message on WhatsApp?

Copy the braille blank or the Hangul filler, paste it into the message box and send it. The message arrives looking empty.

Are invisible characters safe to use?

Yes, they’re ordinary Unicode characters. Just keep them out of email addresses, links and code, where a hidden character can cause confusing errors.

Can I use different fonts in the same sentence?

Yes — that’s what this editor is for. Select a word or phrase, pick a style, then select something else and pick another. Everything stays in one block of text you can copy in one go.

Can I combine styles, like bold and underlined?

Yes. Bold, italic and the font buttons change the letters themselves, and underline, strikethrough and the other lines are added on top, so you can stack them: bold + italic + underline + strikethrough all at once.

Why are some buttons greyed out?

Unicode only has certain combinations. For example there is bold cursive but no italic cursive, and monospace has no bold version. When a combination doesn’t exist the button is disabled instead of producing broken letters.

What happens if I click a style without selecting anything?

It switches that style on for whatever you type next, just like in a word processor. Click it again to switch it off.

Is my text saved?

Only in your own browser, so it’s still there when you come back. Nothing is uploaded. Press Clear to remove it.
