Frequently asked questions

How does this work?

Unicode — the standard every phone and computer uses for text — includes thousands of extra characters: bold and italic letters made for maths, letters in circles and squares, small capitals and more. This site swaps your normal letters for those characters. Because the result is ordinary text, not a font or an image, it keeps its look wherever you paste it.

Why do I see boxes or question marks?

Your device doesn’t have a font that includes those characters, so it shows a placeholder instead. Bold, italic, cursive, small caps and bubble text work almost everywhere. Rarer styles (marked “may show boxes”) can fail on older phones — and on your readers’ phones too, so pick a common style for anything important.

Where can I use the text?

Anywhere you can paste text: Instagram bios and captions, X (Twitter), Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube comments, Discord, WhatsApp, game names and more. A few places, such as some username fields and email subject lines, may reject or strip special characters.

Is it accessible?

Not very. Screen readers may read each styled letter by its technical name (“mathematical bold capital H”) or skip it entirely, and search engines and hashtags don’t match styled words. Use styles for decoration and keep important information in plain text.

Do you store what I type?

No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server. Your last text, copy history and display settings are saved only on your own device so they’re there next time; you can clear them any time.

How do I turn fancy text back to normal?

Paste it into the Unstyle tool. It converts bold, italic, bubble and most other styles back to plain letters and removes underlines and strikethroughs.
