X (Twitter) Fonts
Regular X posts have no bold or italic button, but Unicode styles work everywhere: posts, replies, your bio and your display name. Type below, copy and paste into X — or press Post on X to open it with your text filled in.
Use bold for a headline or a key number and italics for a quote. X counts each styled letter as two characters, so keep styled parts short.

Fancy text on X (Twitter)
- Posts and replies: paste styled text as usual; X counts styled letters and emoji as two characters each.
- Display name and bio: styled text works in both. Your @handle can only use letters, numbers and underscores.
- Long posts: X Premium subscribers can format long posts with bold and italics; for everyone else, Unicode styles do the job.
- Search and hashtags: styled words aren’t matched by search, so keep hashtags and keywords in plain text.
X (Twitter) character limits
| Name | 50 |
|---|---|
| Bio | 160 |
| Post | 280 |
Some apps count a styled letter as two characters, so leave a little room.
Questions

Why does styled text use up more characters on X?
