WhatsApp Fonts

WhatsApp has a few formatting tricks of its own, but only one font. For cursive, bubble, gothic and other styles, type below and paste the result into a chat, your status or your profile.

Fancy fonts are fun for birthday wishes, group names and your About line, and they look the same for everyone in the chat.

  • Built-in formatting: wrap text in *asterisks* for bold, _underscores_ for italics, ~tildes~ for strikethrough and ```three backticks``` for monospace.
  • Profile: paste styled text into your name or About.
  • Groups: styled text works in group names and descriptions.
  • Empty messages: to send a blank message, use the invisible character page.

How do I change the font on WhatsApp?

WhatsApp has no font picker. Type your message here, copy a style and paste it into the chat — or use WhatsApp’s own formatting for bold, italics and strikethrough.

Will the other person see the same font?

Yes. The style is part of the characters themselves, so it looks the same on their phone — unless their phone is very old and shows boxes for some symbols.
