Invisible Character – Blank Text to Copy and Paste
An invisible character looks like nothing — or like an ordinary space — but apps treat it as real text. That lets you send an empty message, leave a name blank, add spacing where extra spaces get removed, or keep empty lines in a caption.
Press Copy next to a character, or set how many you need first. Each one behaves a little differently, so the notes say what it’s good for. To find hidden characters in a piece of text, paste it into the checker below.
Blank characters to copy
Hangul filler U+3164
Wide
The go-to blank character for empty names in games and apps, because it counts as a letter, not a space.
Braille blank U+2800
Normal width
Keeps empty lines in Instagram and TikTok captions and makes blank-looking messages.
Halfwidth Hangul filler U+FFA0
Normal width
A narrower Hangul filler: try it when the regular one is rejected or too wide.
Zero-width space U+200B
No width
Takes up no room at all. Lets long words and links wrap onto a new line, and stops some apps from turning text into a link.
Invisible separator U+2063
No width
Another zero-width character; the line break tool uses it to keep empty lines.
No-break space U+00A0
Normal width
Looks like a normal space but keeps two words on the same line, and survives where apps remove double spaces.
Figure space U+2007
Normal width
As wide as a digit, for lining up numbers.
Em space U+2003
Wide
A wide space, handy for indenting text where tabs don’t work.
Ideographic space U+3000
Wide
A full-width space, as wide as a Chinese or Japanese character.
Thin space U+2009
Narrow
A narrow space, for example between a number and its unit.
Check text for invisible characters
Paste any text to find characters you can’t see — useful when a link, code or name behaves strangely. Nothing you paste leaves your browser.
Questions
Which invisible character works for blank names in games?
The Hangul filler (U+3164) is the one most games and apps accept, because they treat it as a letter rather than a space. If it’s rejected, try the halfwidth version or the braille blank.
How do I send an empty message on WhatsApp?
Copy the braille blank or the Hangul filler, paste it into the message box and send it. The message arrives looking empty.
Are invisible characters safe to use?
Yes, they’re ordinary Unicode characters. Just keep them out of email addresses, links and code, where a hidden character can cause confusing errors.
